Lao National Assembly passed the Red Cross Law at its eighth meeting on 31 October 2017, with a recommendation for further revision to be done by the state legislators, the Cultural and Social Committee, relevant ministries, as well as the Lao Red Cross Society. The revisions were reviewed in two sessions of the National Assembly meeting on 27 November 2017 and 20 December 2017. Consequently, the final draft was then forwarded for the endorsement of Lao President Bounhang Vorachith before the decree on the Red Cross Law is official issued and the law comes into effect. President Bounhang has already endorsed the law which is now expected to come into force by the end of March 2018.
