Representatives from the IFRC Country Cluster Support Team (CCST) in Bangkok and the Thai Red Cross Society (TRCS) were invited to participate in the Child Safety Learning Integration Participatory Workshop, conducted by Save the Children Thailand during 23-24 April 2018 in Bangkok. The objective of this workshop was to provide feedback on the disaster risk reduction e-learning (School Safety), which was designed for teachers by the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC). There were 30 participants from the Thailand School Safety Network (World Vision,  Thai Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, IFRC, and TRCS) and teachers from Bangkok, Chiangrai, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat Provinces.

The e-learning consists of 4 modules: module 0 – Hazard, Risk, and Risk Assessment; module 1 – Self-Learning Facility; module 2 – School Disaster Management; and module 3 -Risk Reduction and Resilience Education. Participants provided the feedback after having participated in group consultation. Save the Children will integrate this consultation results into the e-learning.

Save the Children also shared a few games about Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Road Safety, and Drowning Prevention. The workshop offered good learning experience for Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) members in terms of working with children for School-Based DRR (SBDRR). It provides a good tool for staffs who implement the School Safety and it helps promote collaboratio n between RCRC and education sectors for SBDRR program.
