
Purpose/overview: To document the key success factor in constructing the rain water catchment in the arid area of Gunung Kidul district, Indonesia, which highlights the strong involvement of the community, the community, comprising of 6,000 families, constructed 1062 units of rain water catchment across 10 villages in Patuk and Gedangsari sub-districts. The document also highlights the double usages of the rain water catchment units which not only to extend the water availability from the rainy season, but also to serve as water reservoir to properly store water during the dry season.
