Purpose:

The objective of RDMC is for following up on the activities against the action plan developed during the last meeting, and for receiving presentations from the National Societies in the region on any innovative projects they are implementing, to understand the focus for the Regional Disaster Management Unit, to create opportunities for updates and sharing of National Societies innovative projects, and obtain an update on the work of the Disaster Management Unit in Asia Pacific Zone office.

Overview:

The Regional Disaster Management Committee (RDMC) was a regional forum which had been conducted in the thematic scope of Disaster Management (separate from Health and Organizational Development). The RDMC was held before RCSRF (in 2014), regularly from 2001-2013.

The 17th Regional Disaster Management Committee (RDMC) Meeting – Report was held from 11-13 June 2013, Yangon, Myanmar and hosted by Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) with the support from the IFRC Myanmar Delegation. This RDMC meeting was unique in a way that the participants (Directors) from both Health and Disaster Management (DM) Departments of the National Societies in Southeast Asia Region came together to discuss about how to work better in an integrated manner, discuss about current situation, achievements and challenges. The group work sessions identified common areas of collaboration between Health and DM in order to promote an integrated planning process at National Societies level as well as implementation of the Regional Road Map at national context/level.
