The Dili Hash House Harriers celebrated Valentines’ Day with the Valentines Red Dress Day in February. Runners who participated changed from their usual running uniforms to red outfits adorned with wigs and make- up; both man and women alike. They were running in red to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dili Hash House Harriers’ fundraising event to support the work of Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL – Timor-Leste Red Cross). The event saw a sea of red color with about  50 participants, followed by a very entertaining fashion show, and over USD 1,000 worth of much needed fund raised.

Red Dress Day is an annual event held by a running club “Hash House Harriers” in many parts of the world to help raise fund for their charity of choice.  The Dili Hash House Harriers traditionally give the proceeds to CVTL to help support their humanitarian work.

Corey Hill, Grand Master of the Dili Hash House Harriers said “Red Dress day is a very important day in our calendar for Dili Hash as it gives many of the members an opportunity to support the worthy cause of Red Cross in Timor-Leste. Our members are from all walks of life and this event gives them a chance to help the people of Timor-Leste, while having a very fun day.”

Januario Ximenes, CVTL Secretary General said that “CVTL is so happy that the Dili Hash continually supports our humanitarian activities. Timor-Leste is experiencing some huge problems at the moment with high winds destroying many homes across the country. Fundraisers like these are vital in helping vulnerable people in times of disasters.”
