Timor-Leste got Talent – CVTL Youth Make National TV!

You could feel the nerves ripple through the group of eleven volunteers from Viqueque Branch as they entered the TV Studio. They were about to be record five songs for “Timor-Leste’s Talented Youth” programme on Timor-Leste national television RTTL. Their traditional costumes with ornate head dress and colourful tais (hand woven sarong traditional for Timor-Leste) made the studio come alive. Lights, camera, action!

Banda Musical Juventude CVTL Filial Viqueque (Youth Music Band of CVTL Viqueque Branch) is an initiative of CVTL Youth Programme and are a main stay of all 13 Branches in Timor-Leste.

As the recording progressed, confidence grew. Instead of looking a little scared, smiles started shining from all the faces. The music was fantastic- traditional songs as well as modern – even one in English!!!  . Their harmonies and musical backing were amazing.  True Timorese talent! It was a joy to be a part of this great afternoon. The programme will be shown on RTTL this month.
